Pala Casino Spa & Resort has hired a new CEO. Fred A. Buro, a casino businessman, will replace former CEO Bill Bembeneck, according to a Pala Casino spokesperson.

On Jan. 6, Buro sent a letter to his Pala employees, in which he introduced himself but also acknowledged what he has observed his first week on the job.

“This property is absolutely beautiful,” he stated in the note. “It might need a few things, but, it’s got very good bones – and its location within this serene valley is magnificent. Most importantly, I’ve witnessed, firsthand, how hard you all work (too hard in many cases) and I can feel that most of you have great pride and passion for Pala.”

Buro gave some insight into his managing style, including that he provides “strong leadership and very specific direction.” He also acknowledged that, in his own words, competition is fierce, but, he believes together a strategy can be crafted that will allow Pala to compete with the other casinos.

“We have a lot to do,” Buro wrote. “Until then, think about how we can do the things that matter greatly to you at work that will also help keep our customers coming back.”
