Gold Coast Casino Buffet Hours
Orleans Vegas Buffet Review 2018. After the big hype of late last year during their opening season, this buffet has reverted to pretty much all the less-than-exciting options (I could say some are actually horrible) of all budget buffets with the exception of the great A.Y.C.E. buffet at Palms.
The Star Gold Coast is open every day from 10am – 6am, operating under our approved CovidSafe Site Specific Plan. Please be advised that access to the casino floor may, at certain times, be limited to members and their guests. Click here for more details and conditions of entry. Our Epic Buffet is still All-You-Can-Eat and features over 80 dishes including Crab Legs, Lobster, Southern Barbeque, Asian Cuisine, Creole, Italian and Fresh Seafood. We also offer fresh bread baked daily and a dessert bar that will satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. We’ve enhanced the menu and Crab and Lobster are now served every day we are.
Quantity yes, quality no. With only one or 2 exceptions.
The Orleans buffet in Las Vegas is certainly good enough if you are on a low budget and happen to be in the area, especially taking into consideration the large variety of dishes. Even if you are staying at the cheap resort Gold Coast Hotel and Casino or the more expensive resort Palms Hotel & Casino, you can enjoy the free shuttle between the Gold Coast and the Orleans. However, the way the food is prepared, especially the cooked food, is truly disappointing. A bit in the fashion of any B-Connected buffets. I don’t know why they cannot train themselves to do the best they can with the food they have. These days the nearby brand new buffet at Palms offers a much better alternative in a similar price range. Why can they not learn? Maybe because enough locals go; and they go for a variety of reasons.
I think that locals go to the Orleans buffet mostly because the B-Connected (players card) program includes several monthly promotions whereby you can sometimes eat for as little as 5 dollars! Moreover, it is very easy to accumulate enough points on one’s card to afford ‘free buffets’ with this group. But, without any promotion I’d always recommend Palms over any other buffets in this off-Strip area. They do offer a wide range of dishes but, if you actually care about taste and texture, you will be disappointed.
If your reason to come to this buffet is mainly the price and you are not in the area, it would be foolish to come all the way to the Orleans hotel to eat, unless of course it’s during the weekend (but even then I’d recommend the smaller but overall much better Palms buffet if you want quality in the way the food is prepared and served). You will usually find comparable choices where you are staying, (except South Strip, where all buffets have dramatically collapsed in quality), especially if you are in downtown Vegas).
Food Stations (Orleans Vegas Buffet Review)
As for the actual food, here you will find the usual, basic buffet stations as well as much more (oh, if only the food were prepared and presented well): Barbeque (good pork ribs and good sauces), Chinese, Italian (definitely nowhere near as good at Bellagio’s or Aria’s or at the super expensive Bacchanal buffet, but then good Italian food is only found at a handful of places in Vegas, such as specialized upscale restaurants), Mexican, basic Seafood (no crab and lobster for lunch, but then you usually don’t find these in ‘cheap’ buffet – you will be able to have crab on Wednesday special dinner, see below) and American (some of them typical of the New Orleans area).
The salad station is basic but decent enough, although you won’t find any pre-tossed. I was happy to see that they have artichokes, as they are expensive, but the fact that they serve them drowning in water (they don’t even drain the liquid from the can!) confirms the lack of training for its staff.
The dessert section is good enough and varied enough, with a couple of chocolate cake options which were good. What we really liked was the fruit smoothie, something new and actually delicious: the only potential criticism would be that it’s far too sweet, making me wonder if they used a syrup or some sort of sugar-filled yogurt for the mix.
The breakfast station includes a made-to-order omelette station, which is very popular.
